I read this morning that it looks like transport cuts are on the way …..Is anyone worried about this? Transport Cuts Coming

Reading the transport news recently, it seems that story after story is funding being removed for bus services. Does the sector have the resources? Do volunteers want to do more journeys? Maybe it’s the wrong analogy, but the way I see it is a bit like the volunteer police in the community that are filling the gaps in policing.It makes me think if buses are being cut and no longer seen as the viable solution, will it follow suit that community transport will need to shift focus away from funding and look to become more sustainable?How far would you go to keep your services running?

Are We Now Alone? How Far Would You Go?

If you fancy helping out in Salcombe they are desperate for some volunteer drivers.Salcombe Minibus is a local charity established some forty five years ago to provide and run an adapted minibus for the transport of handicapped, elderly frail residents of Salcombe.It is run by a group of trustees&nbsp;representing the town council and associations. It is funded from passenger donations as well as those from the local council, associations and bequests. Drivers, couriers, and trustees&nbsp;are all unpaid volunteers from the local community.The organisation has always been of charitable status but to retain its Section 19 bus operator's permit, the organisation became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Registered in April 2016 with the Charity Commission. Its registration number is 1166469.
