Thanks, that is great.The more responses I can get will strengthen my position that we should be able charge a small fee for those people who can afford it, to help recompense driver expence.And yes, you should come to visit our lovely island. I moved here from North Staffs over 5 years ago and love it.

Hiya SteveWith our service, we just charge a booking fee. We do £2 booking fee as standard (under review at the moment) and if it’s a double journey / the driver has to wait more than 2 hours we charge £4. It keeps it nice and simple.The driver is paid 45p a mile but we’re looking at whether that goes to 50p.One contract we run for a hospital we charge a £3 booking fee, butthe hospital pays this not the passenger. Hi everyone,I am working with a small tram in Guernsey on an integrated transport project. Our aim is getting transport providers to work together to meet demand, reduce the number of minibuses siting idle for most of the day, and to also reduce the number of cars on the roads.One area where I am in great need of advice is that of passengers paying towards the cost of transport. We presently offer:i. Free voluntary transport (charity. funded).ii. Free voluntary cars service (Health Service mileage paid where appropriate).iii. Charged, subsidised, or free public transport.I am aware that with many voluntary car services in the UK, drivers receive a payment from the passenger to cover costs.I appreciate our laws are a little different to the UK, however I would like to offer a service where those who have funds, cover in full or part a voluntary drivers costs.I am trying to reach an agreement with our transport department on ‘Payment or Reward’ - i.e. when transport falls into the category of private hire.I would really appreciate any feedback on how those who refund drivers have managed to reach agreements on this issue.Kind RegardsSteve BirchGuernsey Integrated Transport Project.
